Office Depot gives back to the United Way!
Jackson, MS - Office Depot has been a long time partner of the United Way of the Capital Area. Wednesday afternoon, during a ceremony to open its' newest distribution center, Office Depot stepped up once again to support the United Way.
The United Way of the Capital Area received a five hundred dollar gift card and 250 backpacks filled with school supplies. The backpacks will be dispersed to children enrolled in the United Way's various community impact programs. The backpack donations are part of the Office Depot National Backpack Program, through which the Company will distribute 30,000 new backpacks to non-profit organizations and schools serving "at-risk" children throughout the United States and Canada in 2007. Office Depot recently donated its one-millionth backpack through
this program in 2006.
"We are grateful to have a partner such as Office Depot that cares about the needs of the children in our community," said Carol Burger President and CEO of the United Way of the Capital Area.
