The Youth Health Symposium (YHS) will serve the sophomore students of the district’s 7 health-related academies. As students seek to explore the topics of health, wellness, and health-related services, we seek to provide engaging and meaningful interactions as part of their educational experience. The YHS will provide education in the areas of preventive health, public health, emotional/behavioral health, and health careers in the form of interactive activities and discussions.
Our goal is to engage all 10th-grade students of the health-related academies and their parents. We estimate the number impacted by this event will be approximately 500 students and 300 adults.
The symposium will cover 3 broad topics Preventive Health, Emotional/Behavioral Health, and Public Health. We will also include a component of health career exploration. More specific topics proposed for each topic are as listed.
