2023 Inaugural Excellence Awards Luncheon Honoree
Ms. Cassandra Welchlin is cofounder and director of the Mississippi Women's Economic Security Initiative, a project of Mississippi Low Income Child Care Initiative. She is a Fellow with the W.K. Kellogg Foundation and a Ms. Foundation Public Voices Fellow in partnership with The OpEd Project. She has worked with organizations at the local, state, regional, and national levels to develop strategies and create opportunities to address the social, political, economic, and ecological injustices in low wealth communities of color that grows out of racial inequities in public policy. Cassandra has worked to build local leadership and partnerships in order to organize their efforts and support their community’s power for the purpose of eradicating racial inequity.
